How to Spot a Runner

How do you spot a RUNNER? Well, if you were in Lincoln today, you probably saw lots of people running. The temperature rose above 60 degrees! And good for them - getting out and taking advantage of the beautiful day. My only wish is that they wouldn't run on Mother Nature's schedule.

If you're looking for a RUNNER - wait till the weekend. Temperature high = 16 degrees. That's when the separation is clear. I'm not trying to be harsh or arrogant. I'm just saying that it's a little easier to spot a RUNNER in those conditions.

There's a difference between going for a run and being a RUNNER.

I'll see you RUNNERS this weekend.

Dear Diary...

I'll never forget getting my first diary. I think I was nearing junior high. My mom gave it to me - a blue Precious Moments diary. The contents of that diary were a pretty big deal (at the time). I'm sure my twin sister or mother probably snooped through it and read all about my crushes on Jacob and Jared and that I thought Hansen was the greatest band ever.

Well, welcome to my new diary. This time I'm devoted to writing about my first go around with 26.2. I'm running Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota Saturday, June 18, 2011.

Let's get this straight (for pride purposes). I'm not a newbie. I've ran 5 half marathons (1:46:32 PR) and average about 25 races a year (10ks,  5ks, trail runs etc.) But like most other long distance runners, I'm thirsty for the whole wheel of cheese. (Pretty sure that doesn't even make sense, but you get it, right?)

To be continued...
